Fox seemingly hated Futurama and loaded the creative team with production notes, so the creators opted for a bit of malicious compliance.

It's way funnier in the narrated version with Clair de Lune playing in the background

Also fuck Disney for trying to rob us of the Blubs and Durland love story

Moonlight Sonata*

Though I feel Clair de lune would have been even better!

Nope. Clair de Lune is not only the name of the Debussy piece. From Wikipedia:

Piano Sonata No. 14 (Beethoven), Op. 27, No. 2 (1801), the "Moonlight" piano sonata by Beethoven, known in French as Sonate au Clair de lune

“Moonlight Sonata” and “Sonate au Clair de lune” mean exactly the same in two different languages and both are used to refer to Beethoven's piece. If you wanted to be factually correct, the proper names for it are “Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor” or “Sonata quasi una fantasia” but most people won't immediately recognize those names as they would with either Moonlight/Clair de lune

Ah, obviously Lune is related to Moon, cool! I think when mentioning "Claire de Lune", most people would associate it to Debussy's work - at least in native English speaking countries
