Any insect aficionados here that can identify this beetle(?) - my dogs tried to eat it as dogs do but they didn't like the taste so I threw it out of our yard.
First time seeing a beetle like that. I hate Reddit, but we could really use r/whatisthisbug right now.
Surprisingly it's not a beetle at all! Mattiphus Shield Bug, found in Luzon. I thought it was an invasive bug, but could be beneficial.
Going to try my luck there. Hopefully it's not poisonous when ingested.
