YouGov is a top-tier reputable polling company that weights its samples to avoid any such confounding factors.
Your comment prompted me to look into it a bit more and it appears my initial reaction was wrong, they do seem to use best practices and have a good track record. I stand corrected. Here's some more about YouGov's methodology if anyone else is interested.
