Sigh. I'm not happy with those numbers. Unless we decided to go full Italian and spread it out over 20 years, I think this is an overpay even disregarding the fact that Chelsea need to sell.

Yeah I hope Kai doesn't suffer the Pepe effect where the price tag hangs over him like a dark cloud.

[–] alfons 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I mean, isn't this pricetag lower than what Chelsea bought him for?

[–] sensiblepuffin 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah, by 5M, but I'm more than a little irked that that logic never seems to come into play when we're trying to sell players.

True, but I think it’s still more than expected given his time at Chelsea. Hopefully we’ll get a similar proportion back when we come to sell Pepe..

I think the difference with Pepe was he very clearly couldn't get a look in before he went out on loan. Kai has been played by all 34 managers who were at that shit show of a club the last year

I've been trying to be less of a pessimist recently, but... we won't. We'll be lucky to see 20M for him. His wages are just ridiculous for a) the clubs that might take a chance on him and b) his skill level.

The market, particularly within the EPL, is insane these days. Boely and Co splashing the cash hasn’t helped either.

I blame Abramovich. That bastard distorted an entire league just so people would hate him a little less.
