Why would they? It's a public health issue.
IDK if you're aware, but invading Mexico is increasingly becoming a serious strategy on the right. So arguing against it is relevant, even if it's totally bonkers to anyone using logic.
I'm from Brazil. We have our own big problem with war on drugs, but instead of putting the blame on neighbor countries we do that to the poor communities living in slums. These big communities were abandoned by our government for years, ended up forming their own kind of society, where drug lords benefited from the lack of law enforcement and many become sort of mayors of these communities, giving people things like internet, gas, electrical grids, and in some cases even some kind of local law enforcement in exchange for loyalty and work opportunities (very dangerous outlaw jobs, of course), all that while making huge amounts money selling drugs to middle and high classes in Brazil. So what is the big solution for this problem? Funding and training one of the most violent and lethal police forces of the world. From time to time they do operations raiding the slums and there is almost always innocent deaths among the body counts. Even when there are no deaths there is always property damage and traumatic experiences from their interactions with the locals, sometimes even torture for information (not to mention the huge corruption inside the force) . Anyways, if you're interested in this subject I suggest you watch a Brazilian movie called 'Elite Squad (Tropa de Elite)' just try not to believe that the police are heroes as many Brazilians did, to be honest they are kinda victims too, in their own way, working for a very fucked up system that feed on violence and corruption to fight a really dumb war on drugs.
Sorry for the essay, lol. Hope it was interesting.
