What is your target demographic?
If you want users from all over the world, then yeah, you definitely need to swap to english at the very least, and you should probably add support for many of the other common major languages as well. If your demographic is intended to be Portuguese however, then switching to English probably won't change much and you'll have better results spending that time and resources on other ways to create more user engagement, like improving and adding more features, or awareness and advertisement.
@FrozenCorgi my target audience is certainly portuguese-speaking, but I feel that even with the promotion on portuguese sites, I still register very few subscribers. and this has made me uneasy. is there something missing from the site or is it the niche that isn't very good? that's why I'd like to get some help and see what I really need to change on the site, or what strategy I need to use to change this paradigm.
