Where PeerTube?
and PixelFed, Pleroma, Akkoma, Miskey, Calckey, Goto Social, OwnCast, Funkwhale, Mobilizon, Bookwyrm, Friendica, WriteFreely, and probably a bunch more.
GoToSocial is a server focused on Mastodon compatibility.
But yes. All of them.
Hey, it was quick and dirty ๐คท.
Plus 99% of them don't allow you to open an ccount, so... f them.
You don't need to open an account. You can follow PeerTube channels from Lemmy.
PeerTube channels, as far as I can tell, are groups, not users, so they should be follow able on Lemmy as if they were Lemmy communities.
ETA: Seems to work ok from my Lemmy account. I was able to pull in https://lemmy.ml/c/[email protected]
@Kichae hmmm... https://kbin.social/m/[email protected] doesn't work just by typing it, but when I logged into my kbin.social account and searched for @unitedkingdom_channel the magazine then existed.
That probably just means that no one had polled the channel from kbin.social before, so k-soc didn't know it existed.
It didn't exist on lemmy.ml, either, until I specifically fetched it from there.
@0x4E4F @Dirk thats a feature not a bug, unless they are single user or family only instances, they usually will let you open an account if you are. But there are others do allow open registration, like the one I have an account on, that I've never actually used, https://peertube.uno
@fuat2mb hello! Thanks for sharing the love about CryptPad! Just a small thing about that instance you are linking to: it's very much outdated, contains bugs and is misconfigured (posing security issues, look at https://cryptpad.devol.it/checkup/). For up-to-date instances we recommend checking our community public list: https://cryptpad.org/instances/. Hope this helps! ๐ @0x4E4F @Dirk
Thanks for the link ๐.
I have no intention to write to admins begging for an account. If they have open registrations, fine, if not, not signing up ๐คท.
@0x4E4F what you call "begging for an account" I call actually having a human connection putting the social back in social media.
I'd rather stay anonimous. Plus, I'd get banned for uploading NSFW things on it (most probably it's not allowed), so... I'd rather just get banned as some anon user than someone who actually wanted an account on that instance.
Whatever, I'm not even gonna open up an account to be honest, there are tons of other proprietery services that offer more or less the same thing. Might as well use them, doesn't make amy difference IMO.
@0x4E4F @Dirk remember all content requires storage to host it, and high-quality video is particularly expensive for that. peertube.uno is brought to us by the folks at https://www.devolt.it which offers a ton of these kind of services free of charge, and I'm not really sure how they afford to. (Though I might have a better idea if I actualy spoke Italian.) I first found them searching for an alternative to Google Docs and found https://cryptpad.devol.it and learned #Cryptpad is even better than GoogleDocs without the surveillance capitalism.
What about NSFW content, do they allow it?
