I had a damaged Google Carboard that I cut in half, and taped a magnet to so I could stick it to the back of my phone and use as a budget macro lens. Works a treat for me

A laser pen is another random thing from which to salvage a lens. They typically habe a plastic lens to focus the beam of light. With care, it can be removed from the laser pen and used for macro shots.
