Is driving out? If not, could you rent a car to get back? If so, their airport has service to Phoenix, Dallas, and Denver. Once at one of those cities, your options open up.
Additionally, this website can give you ideas with prices: https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Durango-CO-USA/Albuquerque
Edit:
Looks like there is a bus called "the Blue Bus" (North Central Regional Transit District ) that goes from Farmington to Chama. The route is called 170 JICARILLA. According to the linked to pdf, it is fare free, but I wouldn't trust that document. Give them a call to find out more: 505-629-4725 / 866-206-0754
Looking at their routes, it looks like it would be possible (depending on times) to get all the way to Edgewood. So in this case, your mission would be to get to Farmington from Durango. Then take a bus or three to the nearest Railrunner stop, hop on that and straight to Albuquerque.
I am driving my daughter's car up to Durango and need a way to get back home without having someone follow me. Renting a car is not out, but i do not have a credit card and the last time I tried getting a rental without one it was a huge hassle. I looked at that Rome to Rio site initially and it looked like the route i needed was 3 cabs and a bus or two over two days.
I was really hoping there was a bus straight there. Maybe i need to look at flights. Thanks for the info, i missed that it went to Edgewood when i looked.
Durango to Farmington is only 50 miles, i probably could have my daughter drop me at the bus station there, eliminating the taxi to the bus.
That would the way to do it . Removing a 50 mile taxi ride would make things much cheaper .
