When Nate Checketts co-founded men’s sportswear brand Rhone, he asked other founders of online startups what their biggest regrets were. Their answer: waiting too long to sell their goods in department stores and other traditional retailers.

“The view was that department stores aren’t cool, and traditional retailing is dead,” Checketts said. “It was such a poor assumption.”

Those brands that Checketts spoke to built themselves on the belief that traditional retailers were relics of a bygone era. Now, they and their peers are becoming fixtures in the very stores that they had left for dead.

I just want to say I love that you’ve included the original publication in the title, since you’re linking to an archive URL. I love archive links, but I like knowing who the publisher is before I click!

Thank you for noticing! Archive links are unfortunately the best way to share some of these articles like the NYT or WSJ so you don’t have to worry about a paywall or account login pop up. Aside from knowing who the publisher is, it should also make it easier to search for articles posted on here from particular news organizations!

Oh I definitely love archive links, I always included them as a comment when posting news stories to Reddit.

Seems like it’s pretty standard to link to them here which is great, but I love that you’re making it easier for people to scan for the source and search.
