One of my big gripes with the manga subreddit was the focus on constant character objectification. It's fine if you like that, but there were always tons oneshots and fan-art that were basically porn, instead of focusing on an interesting story.

Do you think things will be different this time? Do you want them to be?

Serious now. It depends a lot on how the comm is moderated, as well as the type of people who settle in. In general people in the Fediverse seems to be a bit more mature and well-adjusted than in Reddit, so there's a good chance that they'll discourage the almost-porn.

Plus this community being hosted in a SFW instance helps - the hornier folks will be probably at lemmynsfw.com or a similar instance, not here.

I do like some eroticism, mind you, but... come on there's a time and place for that.
