Known Issues
Posts created in portrait mode automatically rotate to landscape mode. This is something across Lemmy that seems to be known. To address, the image must have the correct metadata, not just rotated in your camera roll before uploading.

Also what I wanted to add not all paintings are physically accurate on sails and wind direction.
I once played a game of from how many directions does the wind blow on this painting, and this was in a maritime museum with paintings depicting sea battles. (and a lot had the "problem" of every ship had it's own wind)
so what I wanted to say, is if you aren't trying to depict really accurate the ship anyways. (as to me Pirate ship sound like a really bad generalization of ships types.) Do whatever you like looking at the best. And otherwise, follow u/swope 's advise.
I totally get that, the main reason I went to paintings for any kind of answer was for lack of better alternatives. Beyond that I'm fully aware that the model I have is a cartoony thing, not at all representative of any craft to have been realistically sailed. The main goal here was to learn and to get more information because I intend to redesign the model and kitbash it to make something still cartoony but more realistic in proportion.
