The 21-year-old is highly rated in Australia and impressed heavily at this summer's World Cup.

Manchester United and Chelsea were among the clubs reportedly in talks with her this summer, while I understand Liverpool also enquired.

She's in demand so some clubs were not prepared to meet demands over what I'm told was a six-figure salary.

Arsenal, who do not want to wait until the winter transfer window when she will be a free agent, made a move last night to try and get ahead of their rivals. They are prepared to pay a fee to bring her in today.
