My 4 year anniversary with the CSR is coming up. I couldn't re-earn the sign-up bonus during that time, but now that's going to be gone how do I earn it again?

I've read that I could down grade and upgrade, but is there a step by step detail so I don't mess it up? I'm not finding much about that except for thus: https://upgradedpoints.com/credit-cards/reviews/chase-sapphire-preferred-card/upgrade-to-chase-sapphire-reserve/

Hi, how has your experience been with the CSR? Have you been able to extract value according to the price tag of the card? I personally cannot see myself getting $600 of value from the card which is why I'll likely stop at the CSP when I get there.

Isn't it as simple as downgrading your card to a Freedom Flex/Unlimited and applying for a CSR again?

What prompted you to keep the card for 4 years?

It's $550 per year, not $600.

As for value, yes I've been able to get that out of it. The travel credit alone is plenty, but the food at airports, DD, and other offers make up for it. Mainly though, I want the insurance when traveling and this card does it best, especially being primary on rental insurance.

I think that's how it works, but it means I have to apply again.

What I've mentioned above. We travel a lot, and having insurance while traveling is comforting.

In general the CSR is a good option but if you are justifying the coat with insurance and PP dining options, you may want to look into the Ritz card, it gets the same insurance and techically a better priority pass vs the CSR, because your free AU gets their own pass, and supposedly you have unlimited guests but YMMV. You get a free Marriott night on your anniversary for 85k bonvoy points and the $300 airline incidental is very broad, I have been successful so far in using it for United travel bank for instance, but the AF is $450.

To answer your original question I was under the impression that you have to downgrade and apply for a new card and I would make sure to wait to the beginning of the first month after your 4 year anniversary.
