After trying all the other options, I decided that I was forced to do the right thing.

Frankly, between the political baggage he would thrust on the PC's and the fact that no one would trust his decisions on the housing file, this is the only outcome to really expect at this point. He is going to try to paint this as integrity; a moment of falling on his on sword for the greater good. Meanwhile, this is more of a political execution—there is no way that Doug Ford and the party brass let him stay on at this point.
