Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
The rules are simple:
- The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author's website, for instance).
- The comic must be a complete story.
- If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
- You may post comics from others or your own.
- If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
- The comic can be in any language, but if it's not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post's 'body' field (note: you don't need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
- Politeness.
- Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.

I respectfully disagree.
And yet I can look at it on my own time when I'm not busy with other things
Notifications have a preview of the message tho.
I have received many scary cryptic texts which the phone calls version would've involved, at worst, 5 seconds of confusion. With the cryptic texts I often have to wait hours to understand. The problem with texting is that people use it even when it's wildly inappropriate to and they don't seem to understand that.
I feel like it's sort of simple minded to make rules for oneself like people in this thread seem to have done. Context is key.
Am I excited to answer a call from my landlord? Absolutely not, but I'd rather do that and talk for 5 minutes than text for a couple hours about when the repairman is coming or whatever. Calls can be much more convenient than these people with their rules seem to know...
Why would it take hours for a landlord to tell you a repair man is coming at x date/time
Because texting is a particularly shitty way to communicate with people who aren't good at it. Which is 99% of the world. Why be intentionally obtuse? If you've ever texted more than 3 people you absolutely know what I'm talking about.
I've texted and exclusively used text-based chat programs almost exclusively for over a decade, yes it's a skill that needs to be practiced to become better at, but it's not like it's impossible.
For work for instance, I have had people be like, "can I just call you because it'd be easier to explain," no sorry I'm busy, they then write out like two sentences and I can answer in one. Nah fam, it's not that hard to just put your thoughts or question in text.
The biggest issue I see is tone is hard to control in text if you're just very terse with your writing style, but people have that issue with talking too sometimes lol
