You know that the season is terribly boring when you see these threads.
Why?
Yes, first place is not really a question nowadays, but to be honest it almost never is. We very rarely get a season like 21.
When I started watching, F1 was a sport with 20-odd cars, and at the end Schumacher always won. After that, F1 became a sport with 20 cars, and at the end Vettel always won. After that, it became a sport where Mercedes always won. And now it is a sport where Max always wins.
F1 is a sport where a team/driver who hits the sweet spot has a massive advantage. That is by design, it is in the first place a constructors championship.
But you just cannot deny that behind Red Bull it has been a good season. First Aston Martin, then Mercedes and now McLaren that are coming forward. With the odd good performance from Ferrari in between.
Man, as someone new to F1, I don't get the hate either. I hear people talk about legends like Schumacher all the time, and I think to myself, man, I wish I could've seen him in his prime, I wish I could've experienced that. And Max is absolutely a legend of that calibre. These records don't lie, we'll be debating if Max is the GOAT twenty years from now, and it really pleases me that I'll get to say that I saw those records set and this legend at his peak.
Watching a race go crazy, and wondering if maybe Max will put it in the wall, like with that scare at Eau Rouge in spa, or seeing a questionable tire decision that drops him down the order, or having to start in the rain with 5 laps left, all the while wondering if he'll manage to hold up his once in a lifetime bid for a world record?
It may not be as exciting as the crazy battles happening behind him, but it's crazy to me how many people want to call it boring. Or hell, how many call the whole season boring, despite the rest of the grid seeing these insane swings in position.
Yeah I don't get it either. I'm new to this sport. I got into VR assetto last year cause it was on sale. Branched to dirt 2 then eaF1 cause it was on sale. Oh hey, turns out I love fast cars. Discovered drive to survive, subscribed to F1 TV and every race is a joy. I race it in VR before the weekend to learn the track, then watch how the pros do it
Got me a Louis Hamilton t-shirt I wear on race weekends but my secret homie is Albon. I love this sport and don't understand why everyone is so uptight. I mean, it's all a bit of fun right? fast car go vroom, we went motorcar racing!
Have Max put in 20 qualifying laps in a row like Schumi in Hungary and we'll talk.
Even if Red Bull win every race, there's still good racing to be seen and enjoyed farther back. Most of these drivers are amazing!
