Yeah I get that. I’m under no illusion that sooner or later this platform will become a shitshow bigger than anything meta has been able to do elsewhere, because they will no longer be held back by regulations of other platforms. I’m sure that’s the point of them investing so heavily in this. But I’m glad they’re taking the billions of loss each quarter to move this industry forward right now and hopefully sooner or later it’ll be mature enough that I can jump ship to some other place.

Right now they already have enough retention issues that they certainly won’t push ads or any other bullshit at us. There are still more than enough reasons to not use any product they make, of course. But that’s how I see it for the time being. I’m a VR enthusiast and meta is cheapest, has the most content, and the best hardware.

Personally I'd rather see VR fail than succeed with Meta at the helm. But yeah, fair enough, I realize their headsets are relatively cheap and I hope you enjoy yours.

I really hope VR succeeds and other companies will become viable alternatives. However, I’d rather have metas VR than no VR. I completely understand that many/most people don’t want VR and certainly don’t want it from meta, though.
