n an official tweet, the company stated that Martinet will be stepping down from voice acting duties and will instead be taking on a new role of ‘Mario Ambassador’.

“Charles Martinet has been the original voice of Mario in Nintendo games for a long time, as far back as Super Mario 64,” the statement reads.

“Charles is now moving into the brand-new role of Mario Ambassador. With this transition, he will be stepping back from recording character voices for our games, but he’ll continue to travel the world sharing the joy of Mario and interacting with you all!

Inb4 Chris Pratt is the new voice of mario in all future games to fit with the movies.

That's probably too expensive, honestly. The Japanese have experience with classic voice actors for characters dying of old age (Bulma in Dragon Ball for instance as a recent example) so they're probably planning ahead and getting someone younger.
