Yes only terrible people want to avoid killing people
So let's just be clear here. You're saying that everyone who opposes the death penalty is terrible? How did you come up with that? What reason would you have for killing a rapist? How is there a positive outcome from that?
If you think saying you shouldn’t murder criminals is apologism for crime then you’re more interested in vengeance than justice. There’s times when self defense would require it but this should not be the default.
This is you talking past people again to push your uncharitable assumptions of my thoughts.
If it is necessary to end an immediate threat, then it’s okay. If you hunt someone down later that’s the vengeance and retribution I’m referring to.
I don’t want to live in a world where anyone with a deep enough grudge feels justified mowing down the object of their ire. Plenty of stories have explored this issue with revenge, recently it was The Last of Us 2 and I thought they did a pretty good job of showing what you do to yourself when you give into violent revenge fantasies.
It’s very disappointing that you’re so ideologically up your own ass that you can’t have a reasonable discussion with anyone. Automatically assuming the worst so you can rant about how depraved everyone but you is. Look in the mirror, get some self awareness, and go to therapy.

I didn't say my outlook was correct. I don't think objective morality exists so I wouldn't say any outlook is the correct one. But if it did exist then there would be one correct morality rather than multiple.
