I wouldn't mess with the cables themselves. I would invest in an adapter cable and a scart switch.
Im in canada so customs fee always kick me in the nuts. My goal was to save money with scart cable since they are cheaper than hd retrovisions in canada. If that adapter from USA + scart cables for all my consoles are cheaper than paying for hd retrovision for all my consoles, ill will order it for sure! Thanks for the info about that adapter cable!!!!
edit: i checked, and it may be cheaper to buy hd retrovisions. that cable is 80 cad$ + customs, which may be more than the difference between hd retrovisions vs scart. bummer!
There is this one I found when I was researching for my setup, I have not seen any reviews for it though. It's US based so maybe the import is better. If you have access to a 3d printer you can save some money.
awesome! and it is "retrorgb.com" approved!

found it on ebay.ca! https://www.ebay.ca/itm/165938117987?hash=item26a2aebd63:g:FsIAAOSwQGlj6wDX
Awesome. The fact that it's Bob approved and you don't need to import makes it a great solution.
