True. Fearing a total collapse of civilization is a trait of them.
In reality society can't fully collapse, you'll always have your neighbors etc. But not every aspect of prepping is necessarily bad or problematic.
If the power was down for a significant period of time, you wouldn't have neighbours. You'd have competition for resources
a) You don't know that (look ukraine or whatnot, where they had to live without power for quite some times in certain cities)
b) There are generators, etc, which means you wouldn't have 0 power, but significantly less.
