Explanation: Sponsian is a figure suspected by some scholars to be an usurper Emperor of the 3rd century AD based in Dacia (modern day Romania and Hungary). While there is continuing controversy over his existence, it all centers around the authenticity of some coins, which are the only remaining evidence of his (potential) existence.
