Larian's Baldur's Gate 3 is poised to be one of the biggest cinematic role-playing games in years & many devs are criticizing the scale/scope of it!

Interesting video describing various developers' take on the game. Is it a genre-defining game or not?

Sounds more like a straw-man you're criticizing than anything.

And Larian is definitely a AAA developer at this point. Once you have hundreds of people working on a game you aren't a small developer anymore.

Like cdpr they grew by themselves by making good games. A lot of BG3 is built on divinity original sin 2. Both technically and financially.
