I really enjoyed that book and the whole "alone in space" vibe it gives off. Are there any more like it?

EDIT: Jeez i can't reply to you all. I wish there was a way to compile all your suggestions into a Goodreads list, these all sound awesome!

Have you read any Neal Stephenson? Some of the things I like about his books overlap with Andy and The Martian.

Maybe start with Snow Crash. Feeling bold? Start with Cryptonomicon, which is my favorite

Snow crash was great but not sure it meets the alone in space requirement. Butjif it does then reamde was good too.

Definitely not the alone in space kind of book. But it has Hiro Protagonist, so
