FightingCowboy: "I don't know who the dude was that looked first saw this and said it was going to be souls-like, but you gotta stop doing drugs, man."

VaatiVidya: "I'm curious, what do you see. Armored Core, or Souls? ... No one can deny, there is a lot of souls influence in this."

This is partially tongue-in-cheek since even FightingCowboy admits later that some elements of the gameplay (e.g. the speed and deliberate movement) is similar to souls, but I found watching these two videos back to back pretty.

Yeah, I'm not sure either. To me, the loss of resources on death and the bonfire system are also really big parts of a "souls-like," so without these two, I'm leaning more towards souls-influenced, than strictly souls-like.
