Volume one of Ranma 1/2 was the first manga I ever read, and is one I still re-read consistently. I and my wallet are forever in Takahashi's debt. What about you? Is your first manga not the same as the one that got you into collecting?

I think my first manga I bought for myself was either Oh My Goddess or Gunsmith Cats. Maybe a random issue of Akira.
Oh My Goddess is such a nostalgia trip, even though I only ever read bits and pieces from friends' volumes. What was Gunsmith Cats like?
It's action comedy manga about two girl bounty hunters who are obsessed with guns and cars set in Chicago. It's written by a gun and car otaku, and famed character designer, Kenichi Sonoda. So you get overly detailed explanations about certain weapons before the story kicks in with fun car chases and gunfights.
That sounds genuinely fantastic, I'm going to add it to my reading list, thank you!
