There are several handheld recorders that you can buy. I'd advice something like the Tascam dr-05x or Zoom h2n (both under 200 euros). But for wind protection you'll need a wind jammer. Not a standard wind foam thing, like the ones that come with the machine, but a proper one. Rycote is a good brand for this, they have one for most recorders. So for instance if you buy a dr-05x, you can buy a dr-05x compatible wind jammer from Rycote. I'd advice not to try and save money on this.

I’ve had plenty of others recommend the H2n to me, I think I’ll be getting that one. Thanks for the recommendation for the wind jammer, I’ll check if there’s one for the H2n from Rycote. :-)
