How do you follow conversations? (self.lemmy_support)

On most third party apps they have indent lines or guided lines, and you can basically follow the conversation. On lemmy they have the lines but no way to collapse a parent comment or follow along. Am i missing something?

The collapse button is a little line in a square located to the right of the username
