The broadcast I watched showed the VAR 3D image and it was her face that was millimetres offside.

That does seem very very tight. I guess they are playing with the "old" off side rule? (Millimeter measure) instead of the new "signicaly" ahead (or whatever the language is). I was hoping they would try out the new rule.
I think the new rule will also have millimeter calls but the attacker gets a significant advantage.
My understanding of the new rule is every goal scoring part of the attackers body needs to be in front of any goal scoring part of the defenders body for it to be offside.
Huh, that's a pretty strange way of rewriting it. So everything but the arms? I picture them doing a weird backwards anime run. 😂
