Overly simplistic take.
Protest ≠ boycott.
Hoping for change vs just giving up.
I gave up. The root of the problem is the need for profitability and that isn't going away because of any protest.
I don't understand how it is a protest when if you look up some of the usernames in that pic they make a stand in /r/place then go about commenting and participating in their favorite subreddits like they have always done. So what is the difference when usage remains the same as its been in years pass except they've been given a new subreddit to complain in, which is really just another new subreddit to add to their regular rotation of subreddits they had used and continue to use. I wouldn't be surprised if they use reddit more now.
If I were protesting a store, I'd stop buying their wares.
Reddit has had a good run, but it's over. It's been corrupted by money and I don't think that can be undone. People need to move on, like they did with Digg. Let the product die.
