Aren't baked beans already an American cultural export to the UK to begin with, just reworked for our pallete as they tend to be in a smokier sauce over there?
According to Wikipedia yes, though an even bigger shock is the line "Canned baked beans are not baked, but are cooked through a steam process". I don't know what to believe anymore!
