A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The best ones are thoughts that many people can relate to and they find something funny or interesting in regular stuff.

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. Avoid politics (NEW RULE as of 5 Nov 2024, trying it out)
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct

iโ€™m doing it because I want to make the fediverse more friendly place, in hopes of making it more welcoming for new users, and the nicer place in general. But I wonder how much is just less bots.

I started posting on 4chan in 2005 ๐Ÿ˜ my favorite communities on reddit were little isolated bubbles of 4chan refugees. Mainstream reddit culture was pretty bad, and 4chan got overrun by maga weirdos in 2016. So far Lemmy seems like mostly the worst parts of reddit with a few of the good parts. It feels like the default subs, just slower.

4channers don't get to call the culture of anything bad. 4chan culture was always bad and the far right were the vast majority of the site long before 2016.
