This is missing the previous 10 minutes of them:

carefully packing each item one at a time into the bags that are five feet away
forgetting where they put their purse/wallet
finding their glasses case
putting their glasses on
finding a huge wad of coupons and handing them all to the cashier in the hope one might be valid
slowly reading what’s displayed on the contactless payment point
finding their loyalty card
finding a payment card and putting it in the machine, taking it back out, turning it around and putting it back in the correct way
forgetting their PIN
rummaging around for a post it note that might have the correct PIN written on it
finding their phone, waiting for it to turn on so they can call three relatives, neighbours etc to see if they know the PIN.
reopening the wallet to put the card away and getting cash out, starting with a tonne of coins
being handed their receipt and having a conversation with the cashier
moving about a foot away to put everything away again, but still managing to block the line
