What is Tribes?

The Tribes series is a collection of first-person shooters video games for PC, beginning with Starsiege: Tribes in 1998, developed by Dynamix. Its sequel, Tribes 2, was released in 2001 by Dynamix / GarageGames. A console version called Tribes Aerial Assault, was launched in 2002 for the PlayStation 2. In 2004, Tribes: Vengeance was released by Irrational Games, followed by Tribes: Ascend in 2012, developed by Hi-Rez Studios. In 2024, Tribes 3: Rivals was released.

What's the closest to T1 and the Shifter mod? (sh.itjust.works)

I really enjoyed being a base janitor/infiltrator in T1 with the shifter mod. I wasn't really into the whole gotta go fast thing, I just liked infrastructure destruction and defense

What's the closest to that with the modern games?

T1+Shifter was the peak of Tribes. Perfect for those days you didn't want to be on offense. Just stay in the base and build and protect. Really hoping that can be brought back in this new Midair thing.

I wasn't a gotta go fast kind of player until Ascend. I just liked staying at home and keeping the lights on.

I should check out Midair.

Ascend was my favorite after OG Tribes. Had a good community for a while.

Hoping Midair takes off but the bottom line is it's relying on millennials and older gen Z to show up. Hoping we can get enough to fully populate a server. Gotta have a lot of players to make it work right. All it takes is one full server.
