Can anyone explain the reason behind the drop in MAU that happened end of January? (lemmy.world)

Noticed this drop and would love to know the reason behind it.

The MAU counter at mastodon.social reset. It happened at about the same time they had an issue and had to recover data so I think it was related to that.
