The Official lemmy for the City of Calgary located in Alberta, Canada! #YYC

Rule 1 - Insults/Trolling

Be respectful to each other. Our goal for /c/Calgary is a friendly community where residents can engage in thoughtful discussion. Personal attacks, and trolling of other users will result in removal and a ban. Be civil.

Low content or easily Googled enquiries will be removed at the moderating team's discretion.

Rule 2 - Editorialized/Inaccurate/Vague Title

Be descriptive with your titles on self posts to help users understand what is inside. Vague or deceptive titled posts will be removed.

News articles are to be posted headline accurate. Save your personal opinions for the comments.

Rule 3 - Personal Information

No personal information. No personal phone numbers or addresses. No posting personal social media profiles for the purpose of "doxxing". Anything that is Personally Identifiable Information (PII) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_data) will be removed.

Rule 4 - Submissions should be directly related to or impact Calgary in some way

Posts not directly related to Calgary and the surrounding area will be removed (or approved) at the discretion of the moderators.

If you are posting something not easily relatable to the city, please comment on the post, and engage the community on why you did, or how it is relevant.

Rule 5 - Include Police Case/Occurrence Numbers for crime

Please include a case/occurrence number for users to contact the police with for any requests for help relating to crime. This is to ensure information is passed onto the authorities, and users do not unwittingly send information to parties on the wrong side of an event.

Rule 6 - Political Posts

Be an actual news article from a major media source or a self (discussion) post. Links to Twitter feeds from recognized journalists may also be permitted in some cases.
Alberta and Canadian political issues will only be permitted if they are related to a specific Calgary MLA or MP, or directly related to Calgary. For general election news coverage/discussion, please refer to c/Alberta or c/Canada.

Rule 7 - Repetitive/duplicate posts

Before creating a post, please use the search function. Repetitive/duplicate posts will be removed.

MODERATORS

Since a sub did not already exist for Calgary yet, I have decided to create one. Same basic rules as the /r on reddit, although I will be as unbiased as possible to make it a huge difference between the two platforms.

Enjoy your stay!
