Is anyone else losing respect for players that go to Saudi chasing the money?
In most cases no, I've become sufficiently desensitized over the years. It's happened before with China and Qatar, now it's Saudi. These are athletes, we can't expect them to be paragons of virtue to begin with, as much as I would love it if they were. Just look at the amount of Brazilian players who are vocal supporters of Bolsonaro.
In the specific case of Jordan Henderson, yes his previously outspoken statements regarding LGBTQ+ rights makes this move stick in my craw a little bit.
Yeah. A lot of the players they've signed have earned a lot of money in their career. Its not like they're taking people out of poverty and giving them money. These players are already multi-millionaires and are just selling their soul for a couple extra million
I dont judge any of them. If I was in the same situation I would probably do the same. As a professional athlete, you can only do it for so long. Yes, they are already rich but if I was going to retire in their shoes, I would do my best to collect as much wealth as I can while I'm at the top and then ride off into the sunset.
