It's amazing how clear it becomes when it's even slightly personal... unless you're a broken individual like Musk.

I was always supportive but now that I've got someone in my life who is in this fight, so the fuck am I!

that's very much how it went for me. I was a passive "ally" until I started organizing and meeting my trans coworkers. My attention was immediately pulled to how shitty healthcare and insurance can be for someone who just wants to live their life. I will vote no on the contract if we don't have adequate healthcare for trans folks

As more and more cis people realize they care about someone who is trans, the hate train will start to lose steam. I really hope this happens quickly. For myself, some of my absolute favourite people are trans and it's painful to see what these right-wingers put them through.

For me it was literally that my wife and I had a spare room and a trans person was in need. That simple. We'd always talked about offering it up if a situation arose, and then someone on here of all places brought a situation to my attention. (Check my post history if you like, I'm not a prolific poster.)

That was eight months ago. They're part of our lives now, and I'm trying to learn what I need to do to continue to fight for them. Here in the United fucking States.
