Not that I think that's altogether a bad thing... but are they doing anything to curb the underlying issues, or just banning scary gun-machines and hoping something good comes of it?
If anything trumps first days in office should convince everyone to loosen gun laws.
Those kinds of guns are the bread and butter of gun stores. Gun fetishists buy those guns all the time. No sales means gun stores close.

If you read the article you would know that the law only applies to rifles and shotguns. I would expect that it calls out specific "handguns" like short barreled ar-15s
Short barreled ar-15s are already an NFA item.
