In case anyone reads this and asks the same question:
I just deleted the app on my phone and installed via the apk. Works fine now! I had some trouble signing back onto my account, but I guess that was because of high traffic on my instance
I can recommend the app obtainium to keep custom apk up to date via linking it with a GitHub URL!
Obtainium gave me a notification that a new release had been made on GitHub and with 1 click it updated the all on my phone to the newer version ๐
(I had Lemmy via the Playstore first, the uninstalled it and installed it via the apk obtainium)
