I don't play Runescape anymore but I remember back in 2007 paying about £6 through the phone for a month of membership.
Crazy how times have changed.
Yeah! There's a 2004scape private server that is going into beta now? Might be worth checking out.

There are also 2009scape and 2011scape which aren't complete yet but have live servers you can play.
