Mabuhay at maligayang pag-alis sa Lemmy! ✈️

An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! 🇵🇭

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

tp be fair to the developers, the new OSes have gotten very user friendly. during the pandemic, i tried Xununtu on my dying laptop (was happy with Windows 7, accidentally pressed the update button, the laptop became perpetually frozen). had difficulty learning the CLI but once i learned the basics, using it was no different from using microsoft products.
i wish the govt will shift to FOSS products for all basic office tasks. laptops to be distributed to non-tech govt employees can come preinstalled with the needed software.
wish we start with state universities (eg UP), who opted for data privacy nightmares like Zoom and Google.
