A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts: 1

- All posts must be showerthoughts

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Explain why Jazz is so fucking awesome then.
Jazz is my favorite genre to play- this thinking sill applies but it's a lot more abstract- even if there is heavy improv as is the style, it's still musical patterns over repeating chord changes. Couple that with the subversion of expectation thing I mentioned elsewhere in this thread and it's a winning formula if I've ever heard one.
That's why I like comedy and soulslikes. The subversion of expectations 😃

Jazz has patterns and repetition, like any interesting music genre. If it didn't, it'd be called noise. They just aren't as in your face and predictable as the ones employed by pop genres.
