Good morning and happy new year, fellow sobernauts, IWNDWYT 😁!

We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you’re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!

Day one of my new life.

I did not choose January 1st for the good resolutions but because I suck at maths, so that makes it easier to count and remember.

I have a psy from my local hospital addiction center to help me and I’m finishing the book from Allen Carr today.

So here we are, day one again. But this time for the last time, I can’t wait to come back here for day 365.

Depending on your level of use, be aware that alcohol withdrawal can directly kill you. Be careful if you notice any intense symptoms like cold sweats, tremors, nausea and vomiting.

I know, I don’t have that problem. I don’t have much of physical dependence and I often don’t drink for several days (when working for example).

It’s mostly psychological, that’s why books like this naked mind or the simple method helps me a lot.

But if I continue I will be in that deep pit in a few years and have alcohol withdrawal symptoms so that’s another good motivation.

Better to cut it out early for sure. It didn't take me years to go from being able to quit without issue to having seizures in medical detox so bad they had to keep me sedated for 3 days.
