Updating LineageOS. Is it safe to flash new version of boot.img? (self.lineageos)

I'm updating my Pixel Tablet to December 27 Lineage 21 update. Does the update only include the actual LinesgeOS install (the ZIP on their website) or does it include the other files? So I update the boot.img as well? If yes, should I just flash the one from this device's page on Lineage site?

Does the Updater in the settings app update the boot.img or just the LOS install?

boot.img is part of the "LOS install".
