At least the Fold is something unique with its large screen. Z Flip is just a phone for women to say "look what my husband bought me"
Yeah, I mention below that I compare it to the S24 Ultra because I think at least the Fold6 is – like the S24U – plausibly something an enthusiast with the money would seek out as a daily driver. I even know a friend who got one of the earlier Folds and absolutely loved the gimmick for Nintendo DS emulation. I just call it a massive rip-off because of the insane price delta with worse overall specs with worse overall reliability. That is, it is a gimmick, but I at least can see someone making extremely good use of the gimmick (sort of like how I think the Note/Ultra stylus is a total gimmick but have seen power users making excellent use of it).
The Flip, however, I compare to the S24+, because while the specs are still worse and it's still much more expensive, nothing stands out about the flip gimmick as being a selling point; it feels exclusively like a downside. A relatively delicate fold that can break (or develop a noticeable notch over time), an exterior screen that can break and whose main purpose is to make up for the inconvenience of the flip itself, worse specs, and a much higher price. Even if you have tiny-ass pockets, the thin and long shape probably helps more than thick and short. It really seems more like a fashion statement and 2000s nostalgia-baiting than a gimmick that's plausibly worth it.
Edit: That being said, that specific assessment overall seems a bit sexist, no?
