I beg to differ. I think it added a nice mix of dark truth to the series. You never really see the low-key social messed up stuff in the trek world so this was like yeah… they’d probably have orgasm inducing games in the future where everyone gets all addicted lol. And making it a virus spreading method really adds to the overall seriousness of it

I admire the sentiment behind the episode, too. I just think they didn't exactly pull it off very well. Some (much?) of the acting is fairly cringe worthy.

And if I want dark TNG, Conspiracy is hard to top.

the unrealistic part is how it isn't the C/D plot of every episode.. always some new game people are getting roped into. usually not sinister, but sometimes it is.
