I'm glad Jesus is at least not exiting the pitch like a wounded animal. I'd really like him to find at least some of his former spark.

[–] nuggsy 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Same. I feel like it might be time to part, but it would be nice for him to still contribute. That one world cup man...

Fixture congestion is a plague on the sport. I really feel that the World Cup/continental competitions need to move to an Olympics-style policy of only allowing amateur athletes/players. They'd never agree to it, of course, but it's the only thing in my mind that would fix the problem.

[–] nuggsy 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Agreed... so much gets thrown about player welfare and then FIFA introduces a new competition to rival UEFA. Why? Money. Was it needed? No.

[–] sensiblepuffin 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It's only money. Of course, if Infantino and co. weren't greedy fucks, they'd see that prioritizing players' welfare would pay dividends down the line as teams would play more attacking and energetic football -> better product -> more TV revenue, but they instead see the pool of players as an infinite resource that they can draw upon to synthesize money. Fuck, now I'm mad.

Arsenal have a 2 point lead and are 5th in the CL table. Plenty of time to be mad another time.

Enjoy the moment now :)
