If I remember correctly from later seasons of Korra he and Toph had a rocky relationship that ultimately ended. But I might be misremembering who she had a rough relationship with

I honestly shipped those two. Rough and tumble rock girl and her water tribe twink. Not surprised it didn't work out though.
